  • Supervised Visitation

    Parents deserve respect as they meet the challenge of supervised visits.  We provide visitation with parents and children who are cooperating with one another and do not require a high level of security.  

          By Appointment
          Fees: $40-$50 per hour, weekday or weekends available.

Consultation services offer cost effective, dispute resolution processes that embrace a shift in social behavior away from conflict & toward collaboration between individuals and systems. 

Consultation services support effective communication between individuals and communities promoting personal accountability and mutual respect.

Consultation services provide something better, more accessible and more understandable, while less adversarial, expensive and time consuming than counseling or litigation.

Consultation services are more likely to produce an outcome that is satisfying for all family members.
  • Mediation Consultation

    Conflict is transformative.  The mediation process explores sensitive and 
    confidential issues in a safe and humane environment. Clients work toward an
    informed and mutually acceptable settlement.  
     
    Administrative Fees: $75 per hour Includes intake and any settlement agreement
    forms.
  • Parent Coaches

    Parent Coaches provide a personal, one-on-one contact with parents who are
    struggling with their children’s behavior.  The Institute supports all ages of parents and children in all diverse family situation.

    Fees: $50 per hour and may be included with supervised visitation
  • Parenting Plans

    Strong communication skills ease feelings and offer an opportunity for collaboration and trust. With a low-cost parenting plan, parents save thousands in attorney's fees while engaging in a satisfying process where they are in charge of their legal process. A sensitive and experienced consultant will work out difficult visitation schedules and conflict resolution options with one or both parents before the document is presented to an attorney or paralegal.   A creative, flexible parenting plan can provide the common ground for negotiating in the best interest of children and establish a positive framework for newly extended families.

These workshops are conducted through Break Through Parent Institute by Mollie M. Hughes, M. A. and are a part of the Extended Parent Education for family intervention.

Extended Parent Ed Program

Break Through Parent Institute is collaborating with the municipals courts and social service agencies to provide Seattle and eastside, court/CPS-involved parents to create the Extended Parent Ed Program. The program gives first time domestic violence offenders, bio-parents reuniting with their children, or separated/divorcing parents access to quality parent education, increased services and referrals, and a successful reporting method for establishing compliance.

The program includes a 1-hour compulsory interview, 8-weeks anger management, 10-weeks parenting classes, once a month follow-up classes (for 6 months), evaluations, journals, workbooks and a comprehensive reporting method.

 

Interview Assessment Process:

All clients meet one hour with a Master’s Level Instructor prior to class for interview and parenting skills assessment.  Fee: $75

Ongoing Parenting Classes - The award-winning parent education curriculum, Breakthrough Parenting: Moving from Struggle to Cooperation by Jayne A. Major, Ph.D. an internationally recognized expert on parent education is the foundation for our parent program. The curriculum is human rights-based, focusing on relationships built on equality and respect. Individuals and families find support and information when they attend the 10-week parent education classes and complete a user-friendly workbook.

Breakthrough Parenting® supports parents as teachers and motivators of cooperative, self-confident children while offering them an alternative to failed authoritarian and permissive parenting styles. The program offers opportunity for empowerment by providing parents with access to community resources as well as improved social skills. Court recommended and approved.

Level I:

Managing Emotions and Strengthening Family Relationships by Mollie M. Hughes, M.A. uses well-established parenting principles in a comprehensive journal with space for individual reflection and group interaction. The 8-week class is facilitated by instructors with interdisciplinary backgrounds and Master’s level degrees. To receive a certificate for this parenting class, consumers must develop an individual conflict plan and evaluate their own progress through weekly journal entries.

The class offers the opportunity to keep a personal journal and practice parenting skills in 1) effective communication 2) positive self-esteem 3) confidence building 4) stress/anger management 5) non-punitive discipline 6) human development (including brain development) and 7) group/community support systems in small and large groups. The WHOA!®   program reinforces the importance of multicultural values. Court recommended and approved.
